The Grand Yeti – Adam
From early on I knew two things:
1. I loved to grill
2. No matter the season, I loved to grill.
Hence the creation of www.IGrillInTheWinter.com It’s a place that I can come to and share my passion for grilling throughout the year. Grilling has turned from a casual pastime to a full fledged passion of mine.
I can still remember the first time I grilled in the winter. I was at Northern Michigan University, way up in da Upper Peninsula of Michigan trying to figure a way through my undergrad degree. For anyone who has never had a chance to enjoy a winter up there, let me fill you in a bit. Up in the U.P. there is a good chance of getting snow during a 7 month span (October – April). After those 7 months, the weather would warm, ice would melt, and people would start to shed their winter weight.
For my first two years up there I was very frustrated with the fact that it wasn’t considered “grilling season” for almost ¾ of the year! I was discouraged trying to fit in a whole years worth of grilling into basically 4 months.
After moving out of the dorms into off campus housing, I decided to buck the trend of summer grilling. With that thinking, during a hard snowfall I decided to fire up the grill and see what would happen. My roommates thought I was crazy for standing out in the cold tending to my steak and potatoes. While standing outside watching the snow fall, smelling the steak sizzling away, and just having time to think things over a calm peace came over me. Something that was seasonally wrong felt so right.
From that point on I was hooked. No matter the time of year I love to fire up the grill and enjoy the deliciousness that is produced. I love the looks I get when I go to exchange a propane tank in early January. I get excited watching the ice melt off the grill as it heats up.
